Epic fail

There a fall festival at A's school this weekend.

One of the games is a Cake Walk.

First, I must praise whomever thought of this game.

My husband is forever grateful.

Anyway, there's a contest between the classrooms to see who can donate the most to this cake walk.

While I'm not competitive, I do love to bake.
emphasis: love

So, Tuesday night I had a rough night, I pulled out the Kitchen Aid.

I wanted to make a fun spice cake recipe in the shape of my pretty rose bundt cake pan.

Only, when I went to invert the cake, 1/3 came out and the other 2/3 stuck in the pan.

Then the remaining 2/3 started to come out in chunks.

Fail.

So, I tried to make some lemonade from lemons.

I remembered seeing some jack-o-lantern cake balls:

So, I crumbled, mixed, rolled and let them sit in the fridge overnight.

Today, the time came to make my adorable cake balls.

This is what I came up with.

fail.

A for Effort! You could always toss everything into a trifle bowl. :-)

I'm sorry that I'm laughing...but something similar happened last week when I the whipped topping melted on my fridge-cold cheesecake!

That's why for years I never baked cookies because I baked them till they were rock hard! No one told me you could take them out of the oven and let them finish cooking that way!

Thus is the life of a baking-mom I guess! ;)

I feel so horrible for you because that kind of stuff discourages me beyond measure. When I fail at cooking, I don't try again because I'm not good at it to begin with.
I know you're good to begin with but just sayin' that I feel for you.

First of all, we have those plates too. Did you get yours from Ikea? I am strangely excited to have the same as you at this very moment.

Moving on....

Bless your heart...I'm sure they tasted yummy!! I love cake balls!
